Pandesa announces new Java publishing applet for Pandesa ShareSpace™
Cupertino, CA, May 25, 2006 — Pandesa Corporation today announced a Java applet that enables multiple files and folders to be published simultaneously from within the Pandesa ShareSpace™ web-based application, using drag-and-drop.
Pandesa ShareSpace™ is an information sharing platform that allows teams to share, store, find and reuse high-value information using a refreshingly easy-to-use web-based application. Pandesa customers use the highly configurable environment as a solution for a variety of applications, including document management, document control, content repositories, media libraries, and digital asset management. You can sign up for a free ShareSpace at www.pandesa.com, and be up-and-running in a matter of minutes.
Most Windows-based Pandesa users have downloaded and installed Pandesa ShareSpace for Windows®, a ‘thin client’ that allows users to publish multiple files, folders, emails and contacts using publishing feature which is directly integrated with Windows and Office. However, Mac and Linux users, or Windows users who elect not to install the client software, were limited to using the HTML publishing page to publish one file at a time (a limitation of HTML). The new Java applet allows users of any operating system to publish multiple files and folders.
The applet displays three ‘panes’ to the user. The first pane is a scrolling window with the files and folders to be uploaded. Users either drag-and-drop files and/or folders into this list, or click the browse button to select the files using the file browser. The second pane is a list of available tags, configurable by the system administrator, allowing the user to attach tags to the published files. The third pane is a checklist of user groups and users, allowing the user to specify access rights for the published content.
The new Java applet requires version 1.5.2+ of the Java browser plugin, available for download from Sun Microsystems website. Users will also find an upgrade link directly within the Pandesa publishing page.
All new and existing Pandesa ShareSpace™ users can immediately begin using the new publishing applet.
